Poor Craftsmanship causing the need to replace the floor

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Our 2017 Highland Ridge Open Range 5th wheel's floor became spongy. Suspecting a water leak, we pulled up the flooring and found that the culprit was NOT a leak or rot, but that the 1/4" plywood did not reach from beam to beam leaving the entire width unsupported except for the foam insulation, which within 3 years gave way in the high traffic areas. In addition to the flooring issues, the gearbox for the 2 opposing slides stripped out within 3 years with very little use. After researching these 2 issues, it appears that these are common problems with Highland Ridge.

I bought my Open Range 2 years ago, it is a 2410RL. I have not had any problems with my RV, I have been happy with it. I do live in it full time for the first time in my life. I am 62 and retired and love the RV life.

I'm very upset that i have to have 2 doors replaced , they are both bent or warped and do not stay shut. Bad thing is that I have to make my first payment and cant go anywhere. Doors open on their own. Hate to travel and have them flapping in the wind.

First time returned to dealership for repair the refrigerator was not working among some other little things. At dealership for 6 was. Second time the water from the AC unit was leaking due to there were no seals on the slide out. At dealership for 5 weeks Now, third time when we went to pick up the RV the slide was an inch off on one side. It has been at the dealership for 3 weeks, and they are saying Highland Ridge has responded at all. I am going the lemon law route now.

Craftmanship

Highland Ridge RV - Craftmanship
2018 Open Range 3X 375RDS At 1year 2 weeks, the upper kitchen cabinets fell off the wall. Highland Ridge refused to cover the claim because it was two weeks past the one year craftsmanship warranty. At 1 year 9 months the floor separated from the wall in the dinning slide out. The service center discovered the floor was not properly secured during manufacturing. Because this is a manufacturing defect, our extended warranty will not cover this repair. Highland Ridge refused the claim because this repair does not meet the 3 year structural warranty. Do not trust that Highland Ridge will stand beside their craftsmanship or warranty's.

I bought 2018 Mesa Ridge by Highland Ridge. Bought it on May 8, 2018, by May 9 all the windows were leaking and the Dealership told me I had to go to Highland Ridge for it to be fixed. After getting the run around from Highland Ridge, they sent me back to the dealer. After many emails and phone calls that were ignored they finally sent a person down to look at it, but they said they would have to order a new window and then that took about 6 months to get they actually replaced the window but the leaking did not stop. I called to request that come and see if they could get this window to stop leaking. Their answer was I have had it over a year and now I would have to use my extended warranty. I have had to pay an RV tech several hundred dollars to try to figure out how to fix this expensive lemon. I feel this company does not stand behind their product and neither does the dealer that sold it.

Depends on this outcome

My rear awning left side on my 2018 Open Range model #183X387RBS Vin. #58TCH0BV4J3XF3164 fell down and almost hit a friend and myself, after examining what happened I found that a bolt snapped from the upper bracket that is secured to the RV while it was parked, and the awning rolled up in its secured position.

We have had multiple issues with our Open Range Roamer 347RES fifth wheel. Right after we bought it we found a leak in the bedroom slide area that took three trips and five descriptions of the problem to Camping World and the manufacturer to get resolved. Now our issue is that for a year we have been trying to get a leak in the roof fixed. No one is willing to take the proper steps to actually find out where the leak actually is. Highland Ridge should be taking it back to fix it but they keep sending us to repair shops that cannot or will not help us. I am giving one star to every criteria below because i can't go lower than that or they would get negative marks.

Our unit finally went back to factory in Indiana. Was sent back to Lazy days and all the work they done looks horrible! They are truly a ripoff company. We paid a lot of money for our 3X397FBS They have put us off until the warranty ran out now they just say the warranty has expired. I will never buy a new RV again from Anybody!

Bad experiance

bought a new 2019 light 5th wheel, had it in shop 2 times before we eve went camping, once for the exterior body, the bottom of the kitchen and living room slides stuck out like wings, the next time we got home and no power unless i hooked up the charger, replace the box that ran the power, went camping 1st time water all over bathroom floor, front door has to be slammed to shut cannot lock deadbolt. Hole on the left side of the kitchen slide out bottom can see the ground when opened, have to oped and close kitchen slide out a few times before it closes tight. Living room slide out popping and grinding going in and out, took it in and they made it a little bit quieter, the when we went to pick up the unit the right front electric jack would not go up or down so they had to replace it before we could leave, they blame the manufacture, was hoping they would just let us return it for something else. It's like whats next, took the enjoyment out of owning it..

We bought our camper less than a year ago brand new. We have been able to use it 3 times. Closet slide has had motor burn out, fridge leaked and warped kitchen floor our third slide the floor is coming up I. It. We paid to have first slide fixed and 30 days later and we are still waiting to be refunded. Now it is back in for more warranty work and we are now being told 2-3 weeks before we will get it back. Highland Ridge does not care about their customers and frankly would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

We bought a 2016 Open Range Roamer 5th wheel in Tn. in May 2016 that was 3 mos. old. Had 2500 miles on it. Electrical problems w/tv, lift motors would not work, bad battery, coach has a direct short in it, dealer couldn't find it, cable to tv to outside of plug wired backwards, so tv wouldn't work. USB cable had to be replaced. Gear box over the bedroom slide had to be replace, I, the owner replaced it as the dealer said 3 mos. the coach would have to sit on their lot. Cost was only $100.00 for gear box and my time. Gear box was modified to fix failures, made in CHINA. Axle bearings on right side of coach had sand grit in it, I myself replaced bearing, races and seals. Dealer said it would take 3 mos. to fix. When taking hubs off, discovered grease was put on all brake linings. YES, trailer had NO BRAKES!! We put 2 batteries on right side of coach, apparently there is a wiring problem that keep blowing the batteries every yr., which I have not found. Pin box or 5th wheel hook-up--all the bolts were loose and 2 had no nuts on them when purchased. Telescopic TV controller didn't work, I called the manufacturer and the owner of the company was very helpful and sent me a new computer brain for free and told me if I had any problems, which I did and he walked me through the hic-ups and the computer brain is working great. I did all these repairs myself while it was under warranty because the dealer said it was going to take 3 month for each item to fix, so while you are making payments, your coach is sitting on the dealer lot waiting to be repaired, you might get to use your coach the following yr. Repair dealer, Bretz Marine and RV, Missoula, Mt. NEVER TAKE ANY RV OR BOAT TO THEM FOR REPAIR!!! We still enjoy our coach, but the parts suppliers and dealers need to work better at taking care of the customers problems.

Highland Ridge/Jayco poor workmanship

Highland Ridge RV - Highland Ridge/Jayco poor workmanship
I purchased a 2015 new open range model 413RLL bunkhouse. It had everything we wanted. But little did we know, the online tour of how these 5th wheels are built, is just a lot of fraud. Right from the start we started to have problems, starting with the dump tank pull handles all breaking, the slide cables breaking, the gear boxes that open and close the slides, the tires sold with the trailer were the wrong rating for the weight of the trailer, all tires had to be replaced, one blew out on the highway, the tires just spread out so much the two tires were rubbing against each other, couldnt even get a piece of paper between them. The service and parts took forever. After the second year, it had been in service longer than we used it. The floor of the upper deck had no floor subports underneath, so the main hallway and bathroom floors were starting to fall in, the slide came apart because they didnt put the screws in, water got in damaged the floor, i had to wait one year in service for highland ridge to ship a new bedroom slide, it came in pieces without the floor broads, missing or damaged parts, they didnt even have the bill of material to look up parts. The service center they told me to go to, did nothing but take it apart, then they sent it to another repair center sub out work, one week before they closed down their business, called me to put it up, parked in front of their shop, in the street. The work was not completed and what work they did, caused more damaged. I took it back and they told me to talk to the other repair shop, who told me they were told to stop all work. This was in June 2018 and ive been trying to get these guys to make it right, only to be given false promisses. The work was done under warranty, so i cant take them to court. So i just started fixing it myself. Today i was fixing the bedframe, it was dragging on the floor and scratching the floor. While what i found was the main broad that the wheels were attached to was a 2x3 that they got the wood from the trash pile,it was in 4 or 5 pieces that were put together to make a 6ft board. The cost of a 2x3 at home depot is about $2 bucks, im sure highland ridge pays less then that. But they are so cheap and poor worknanship. The rubber seal for the slide wasnt replaced and i cant order it direct, ive been waiting since June and still nothing was shipped. Going to rain soon and water will get inside the slide again. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM HIGHLAND RIDGE OR JAYCO. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE ME A NEW TRAILER OR MY MONEY BACK. im learning how to repair as i go, and im doing a better job then these repair shops.

Factory Defect Not Covered since Warranty Expired by Two Weeks

Highland Ridge RV - Factory Defect Not Covered since Warranty Expired by Two Weeks

I have been an RV-er over 40 years and never have had the maintenance nightmare as I am having now: Two fold-down campers; four travel trailers; two 5th wheel trailers (1st with one slide out and 2nd with three slide outs).

Our 2017 Highland Ridge Open Range Light slide out floor was crushed when sliding it in on August 25 2018. The factory warranty expired two weeks before the incident.

Total cost for repair is $8,577,08. For labor alone, I am being charged $7,150. Good Sam insurance is reimbursing$1,046. 95. We have pay the balance of $7530.13.

Since we bought this trailer on August 5, 2016, we have had to have the air-conditioner replaced. We have had three water pumps replaced. We have had two pair of awning arms replaced. The double chair recliner was replaced. A window was shattered without reason and the whole double window frame was replaced. When going around a curve, our trailer tires dropped off the side of the black top and two tires flattened with the one tire blowing out completely (passenger side), Weak tire sides made the tire blow out and one rim was destroyed. The siding also was damaged on the exterior and had to be replaced .

We had to use our RV insurance company to pay for the shattered window and awning arms. Beaue we had to turn in twio
